Choosing the right shoes

Our Senovilla hand-made shoes are made to withstand the demands of flamenco dancing, so it is essential that they be comfortable!

The width of the shoe is important in order for it to adapt to one’s foot. Consider that they tend to stretch a bit. It is normal for them to feel a little hard when they are new and it is not uncommon for them to cause grazes. Suede shoes are initially more flexible and comfortable, than leather, but they also lose their shape more quickly.

Hand-crafted shoes are made using traditional methods by a master shoemakers. So each pair has its own character and colours can vary slightly due to different dye lots of leather.

To encourage your new shoes to shape to your feet if they feel a little tight, wet the inside before slipping them on. The wet leather will dry and form to your feet!

Tips to keep your flamenco shoes looking gorgeous!

To clean your shoes it is best to spread normal skin-cream onto the leather. Once the shoe has absorbed the cream, clear shoe cream should be applied. The next step is to polish them with a cloth. Following these simple steps will allow the hide to remain hydrated.

After wearing your new shoes, they must be left to air out for at least fifteen minutes in order for them to dry. Perspiration dries out the leather or suede and causes it to become rougher. The best way to store your shoes is to keep them in the bag they came in to stop the hide from drying out. Make sure they are stored somewhere cool and out of the direct sunshine.
