The Cast

Aisling

Recently imported from Ireland. My love for fashionable headwear began at the tender age of two with my penchant for wearing buckets where thankfully more sophisticated pieces now reside. The best thing about working at Edie Hats is getting to talk about Cloches, Barmahs, Pork Pies and Borsalinos all day and the satisfaction of watching the right pairing walk out the door. In a previous life I think I was Humphrey Bogart’s fedora.

Caitlin

Caitlin is a member of the sales team and a video editor at Edie Hats. She was born in Vancouver and got her love of hats from her father, a man who is rarely seen without a hat on his head. She is currently studying film production at UBC and plans on directing and screenwriting professionally. Her favorite hat is the fedora, as they put her in mind of black and white films of the Old Hollywood era.

Daryl-Lynn

Daryl-Lynne120Some people say Daryl-Lynn is the coolest person ever. Why? Because not only is she studying animation and selling gorgeous hats everyday, she’s also from the East Coast which gives her 20 extra cool points. Her love for hats has turned into an obsession and she’s determined to wear a different one every day. When asked what her favorite hat is, she can’t decide between an adorable 20’s cloche or a rugged leather Barmah. She loves dancing around the store to Stompin’ Tom and isn’t afraid to put every single last hat in the store on your head, as long as you leave happy.

Devon

When cued “what’s your favourite hat?” Devon de Balasi Brown paused to think.  This grey morning it would probably be his Peter Grimm cap placed on his head at a jaunty angle with the brim rolled up.  Though tonight, while out and about, his gold Bailey fedora would probably take its place. A definitive answer is not going to be easy to come by. Living in Vancouver his whole life, Devon now works at Edie Hats on the floor and is involved in the online presence of the store, primarily doing video editing.

Elvira

Elvira works for Edie Hats as a photographer, designer, and marketing advisor. She is also a Flamenco Dancer and Hat Lover. Elvira’s first experience with Edie Hats was on a school field trip to Granville Island. This was when it was a tiny store packed with floor to ceiling HATS! How things have changed (now not so tiny) and yet stayed the same (hats, hats, hats!). The best things about working for Edie Hats is the sense of fun, love of life, funky coworkers, and of course the amazing selection of hats.

Lindsay

Lindsay is the buyer at Edie Hats. When not crunching numbers and entering data, Lindsay and Edie are often gone on wild adventures, hunting for new and exciting products. With a background in Art History, she finds that buying is very much a visual activity and is happy to have found a career she loves. In her spare time, she loves to write letters, take flamenco lessons and ride her vintage Peugeot bicycle.

Mary

maryw120x120If Mary had been born in the 40’s she just might have been a silver screen starlet – red lipstick, dressed to the nines and with a delicious hat perched saucily over one brooding eye… Instead, she made the best of being a modern woman – acting her way through Canada, France and Italy before serendipitously finding her way to Edie Hats where she lives her dream of old-school glamour every day in some little veiled number. You’ll find her out on the floor, singing her way through heaps of hats, playing dress-up and she just may plop a furfelt fedora or a curled-up cloche on your head!

Mary Jean

Mary JeanThe youngest Cast member at Edie Hats but also one of the oldest, Mary has been here for many years. Upbeat and friendly, Mary has a way of keeping you entertained while finding the perfect hat for your noggin. Maybe it’s the music or maybe it’s her five years training as a dancer but she is rarely seen standing still! Always the first to offer help, Mary volunteers at the Red Cross when she is not counting down the days ’till she finishes school!

Nicole

NicoleNicole is a proud West coast gal born and raised in the beautiful Vancouver. With a quirky but classic style you can expect to see her in anything from an elegant fascinator to a colorful deer stalker, always matching whatever strange but fabulous vintage frock she has on. With a love of dance you just might catch her spontaneously breaking out into a jig as she plops a hat on a bystanders head. Her favorite hat is a black fur felt fedora; from wide to short brims and high to low crowns. With a great eye for matching hats with heads you just might walk out the door with whatever she has lands on you!
