Edie Hats and the Olympics

East Coast DaysIt is no wonder that Granville Island is poised to be a key area during the 2010 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. With its natural beauty it is an inspiring showcase for so much of what makes Vancouver special – stunning mountain views, fresh sea air and a vibrant, creative community.

Neighbour to the Olympic Village on False Creek and connected to Olympic venues and hotspots by free shuttle, Granville Island is inviting the world to experience Vancouver. We’re ready to welcome more than 36,000 visitors a day, hosting celebrations and special events throughout the Games and becoming home to several international houses including Atlantic Canada House, Place de la Francophonie and The House of Switzerland.

Edie Orenstein, the creator and driving force behind Edie Hats, is a native of Halifax, one of the largest cities on “the other coast” of Canada. The East Coast is so near and dear to her that she’s outfitting Edie Hats in full Atlantic finery – from lobster traps, gumboots and Sou’westers to entertainment and treats from the Maritimes. Please join us and help us celebrate the Olympics and our Canadian roots! Enjoy some real Atlantic hospitality and join us in February and March 2010 for a taste of the East Coast.
